BEE Status

Black Economic Empowerment (BEE)

Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) is a program launched by the South African government to redress the wrongs of the past and to create an integrated, diverse environment with the aim of stimulating the country’s full economic potential. BEE is intended to transform the economy to be representative of the demographic make-up of the country without compromising the stability and productivity of business and the economy.

Black Economic Empowerment is driven by legislation and regulation. An integral part of the BEE Act of 2003 is a sector-wide generic scorecard, which measures companies’ empowerment progress in the following areas:
 -    Employment Equity
 -    Management Control
 -    Skills Development
 -    Ownership
 -    Socio-Economic Development
 -    Preferential Procurement
 -    Enterprise Development
