Donation Of Medical Supplies To Thola-Ulwazi

Vela VKE recently made a donation of R40 000 worth of much needed medical equipment to Thola-Ulwazi, a Hospice and Home Based Care facility which operates in Soshanguve, with a branch in Watervaal “B” in Mpumalanga. As Vela VKE’s head office is located in the City of Tshwane jurisdiction, this donation forms part of the company’s social contribution to uplift the communities in which we work. George Munyai, the head of the company’s Pretoria office, was invited to visit the Hospice in May 2009 and after seeing the excellent work they do for the community, it was decided that Vela VKE would assist them in obtaining the medical equipment needed in order to be in a position to take care of more patients.

Thola-Ulwazi, launched in 2005 and offers the following services:

  • Two hospices, consisting of a 10-bed facility in Soshanguve and a 12 bed facility in Watervaal “B” for terminally ill patients.
  • Home-based care which essentially assists orphans and child-headed families and educates them on how to take care of their terminally ill family members as well as providing other services and counselling.

We are certain that the patient trolleys, drip stands, stethoscopes and other medical apparatus that have been donated will improve the quality of the service that the Hospice provides to those in need.
