Vela VKE won the community Development Category Hot Dip Galvanizing Award for their Zwelitsha Pedestrian Bridge. The bridge provides a safe crossing point for some 500 pedestrians who cross the Buffalo River each day.

VELA VKE WIN SAICE AWARDS !!
Congratulations to Andrew McKune of our Durban office for winning the 2011 Young Engineer of the Year award. Mr. Seetella Makhetha, the president of SAICE, presented Andrew with his award (see above).

John Anderson and his team won the prestigious SAICE award for Technical Excellence for their impressive Buitengragt structural steel bridge in Cape Town. The bridge was built in time to provide easy access to the Cape Town soccer stadium for thousands of world cup visitors.

Vela VKE's reconstruction of the MR172 (Helshoogte to Boschendal) project won a Regional SAICE Community Based award.

CIRCA ON JELLICOE won the Gauteng Institute for Architecture GIFA Award at their annual architecture award competition. The award recognises design which "reflects the diversity of the architectural professions capabilities", says GIFA Online. This year's award was entitled 'Exposed'.
