Bloemfontein Office is situated on the corner of Second Avenue and Kellner Street in Westdene, within walking distance of the city centre.  The offices comprise of three adjoining houses, creating a comfortable homely atmosphere for some 30 staff.   Bloemfontein office is proud of the extensive expertise amongst their staff, specifically in the fields of road design and maintenance, water and sanitation, and transportation.

Office Head - Ivan Jacobs

The office is headed by Ivan Jacobs who joined Vela VKE Consulting Engineers some 12 years ago and was appointed Office Head of Bloemfontein office in January 2008.  He is a Technical Director, a member of the Vela VKE Executive Committee, and serves as trustee on the Vela VKE Pension Fund. Apart from his Hons B. Eng degree, he also qualified himself in management by obtaining a B.Com degree. He is currently focusing on the optimising of the human energy and synergy in the office. He is also a keen part time farmer where his technical and management skills come in very useful.

This dynamic leader has earned the respect of the Bloemfontein team, leading by example, and contributing largely to the success of the office.
Ivan Jacobs (Pr Eng) has 27 years experience in all aspects of road and street projects, from conceptual planning through design, contract documentation, contract administration as well as routine road maintenance management. He is a recognised specialist in the field of road project management, road building materials, road pavement, road rehabilitation, specifications, routine road maintenance and site supervision. He has also managed the development of numerous micro and small enterprises in the engineering industry.

Over the past 8 years he has served as project leader of the design and construction supervision teams for several major roads projects on some of the most important roads in South Africa.  Examples are sections of the N1 as well as the Sasolburg bypass road. The latter is the most highly trafficked road in the Free State.
